Suggestions for MAILERS+4 users to prevent problems that may occur. Below are some suggestions provided by Tech Support for users of MAILERS+4 to prevent any problems with installation or general use.

Before Installing your MAILERS+4 Update Disk

MP4W32.DAT

Copy the MP4W32.DAT file from the MAILERS directory to another folder before installing your MAILERS+4 update disk. This file contains all your saved presort and print label templates.

MP4AUTO.INI

Copy the MP4AUTO.INI file from the MAILERS directory to another folder before installing your MAILERS+4 update disk. The Auto Format option in format fields reads from this file. You may edit this file to recognize field names in your list when clicking the Auto Format option.

MP4SFX.DEF

Copy the MP4SFX.DEF file from the MAILERS directory to another folder before installing your MAILERS+4 update disk. Address Check uses USPS standard suffix abbreviations for street suffixes. If you use a different abbreviation, Address Check will convert it to the USPS standard. You can edit the file of street suffixes to include abbreviations found in your list.

Database Files

Keep your database files out of the MAILERS+4 directory. Example: Use your My Documents folder or create a folder on your hard drive to store your files.

File Naming Conventions

Keep your folder and file names as short as possible. Preferably with no spaces or odd characters. Mailers software will sometimes have a problem printing the Qualification , Mailing Summary and Presort Parameters reports with long file names or folders with commas, quotes, periods, quotations and underscores in the name.

File Run Locations

If possible try to run your files from your local machine and not over the network.
