Global Express Entry:Notice
Express Entry API US/CANADA PO Box, General Delivery and Rural Route Changes
Beginning the week of August 7, 2023, Melissa’s Express Entry API will be updated with several corrections to the current parsing logic to address multiple long-standing issues for PO Boxes in both the US and Canada, as well as Rural Routes and General Deliveries in Canada. These fixes will allow Express Entry to follow best practices and global parsing standards which other Melissa services already follow in order to address multiple outstanding complaints from current users.
The update may or may not require code changes on the client side. It is important to review the information below to see if your client will seamlessly support the upcoming change.
PO Box, General Delivery, and Rural Route Parsing Changes Explained (US and Canada)
The following are all the parsing changes to expect after the August 7 updates.
PO Box Parsing in the US
- Thoroughfare and Premise will no longer output parsed PO Box information
- PostBox will contain PO Box information
PO Box Parsing in Canada
- Premise and Thoroughfare will no longer populate with “PO Box” string
- SubBuilding will no longer populate with PO Box number
- If PO Box is in a Building (STN MAIN), the Building will be populated instead of Thoroughfare
French PO Box (Case Postale) Parsing in Canada
- PO Box will be replaced with French equivalent “CP” for French PO Boxes
- Premise and Thoroughfare will no longer populate with “PO Box” string
- SubBuilding will no longer populate with PO Box number
- If PO Box is in a Building, the Building will be populated instead of Thoroughfare
Rural Route Parsing in Canada
- Thoroughfare now populates with RR
- DependentThoroughfare will no longer be populated
- Building will be populated when available
- SubBuilding will be blank and Premise is populated with RR #
General Delivery Parsing in Canada
- Thoroughfare populates with “GD” instead of PO Box
- Premise and SubBuilding are now blank
- When GD is on a Building, Building is populated
